What private label means in this category
Private label means we make the product to an agreed specification and you sell it under your brand. For mukhwas and mouth fresheners, you can adjust sweetness, seed ratio, flavour, colour, coating and piece size. Each choice affects cost, shelf life and transport.
You can begin with an existing product direction, a reference product to match or improve, or a gap you want to fill in your market.
The six ways this works commercially
Choose the route that matches how much product development and ownership you need:
- Private label. A range under your brand, with agreed product and pack customisation.
- White label. Start from a proven product direction and take it to market under your identity, with minimal reformulation.
- OEM and contract manufacturing. Production against an agreed formula, specification or brief you already hold.
- Custom product development. Formulation, flavour, format and sampling support for something that does not exist yet.
- Wellubia-branded supply. Finished Wellubia product for resale, distribution, hospitality or service.
- Loose and bulk supply. Product supplied for your own downstream packing or food service use.
You can also start with Wellubia-branded stock to test the market, then move to private label once demand is clear.
Pack format decides more than people expect
The pack affects shelf life, freight cost, label space and selling price. Decide it early.
- PET jars: retail shelves and repeated home use.
- Stand-up pouches: lower freight cost and e-commerce.
- Single-serve sachets: hotels, airlines and sampling.
- Gift boxes: premium presentation and more assembly.
- Bulk packs: repacking and food service.
Share the destination country in your first message. Humidity, transit time and local labelling rules may change the best pack choice.
What Wellubia brings to a brief
Manufacturing is inside the group rather than contracted out. Production runs from our own facility at Palwal, Haryana, in the Delhi NCR region, under FSSAI licence 10821014000051 held by Kabir Foods Pvt Ltd, with Superseeds Marketing LLP as the marketing entity. Both are Wellubia group companies, which is worth stating plainly because a buyer checking the licence will see the manufacturing name and should not have to ask.
Product development, flavour work, format trials and sampling are handled in-house. That is the practical difference between Wellubia and a brand that outsources: a buyer-led concept moves from a description to a physical sample without a third party in the loop, and a reformulation after sample feedback does not restart a commercial negotiation.
The working catalogue runs to roughly 80 product directions across seven families: mouth fresheners, mukhwas blends, paan formats, digestives, candies, seed mixes and modern ingredient-led formats. Those are starting points rather than a fixed list. Wellubia products are supplied to buyers in more than ten countries.
Certifications currently held are FSSAI, GMP, HACCP, Halal, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, ZED and AYUSH. Relevant certificate scope and documentation are shared against your specific buyer and destination brief, because which certificates matter depends entirely on where the product is going.
Minimum order, samples and pricing
There is no universal minimum order quantity. We quote quantity and lead time after reviewing the product, pack and destination, so both pilot runs and larger orders can be discussed.
Product samples are free; you cover shipping. Pricing and Incoterms follow once we know the product, pack, order size and destination.
What to put in a first brief
Include the product direction, supply route, target country, preferred pack, estimated quantity, launch date and required certifications.
If something is undecided, say so. “Pack format undecided: please advise” is more useful than a guess.
How a project actually runs
Most projects follow five clear stages:
Brief and feasibility. You describe product, market, pack, rough quantity and timing. We assess it against the line, the destination market's rules and what is realistic at your price point. This is where an idea that cannot be made economically gets identified, which is uncomfortable but far cheaper than finding out after artwork.
Direction and sampling. We propose a direction or work from your reference, then send samples. Samples are free and you cover shipping. Feedback and revision are normal at this stage.
Specification lock. Recipe, pack format, shelf life, allergen position and labelling are fixed in writing. Nothing should move after this without both sides knowing, because everything downstream is priced against it.
Artwork and compliance. Label artwork is prepared against the locked specification and the destination market's requirements. This is the stage that most often slips, usually because someone is still deciding a brand name.
Production and dispatch. The run is scheduled, produced and documented, and destination paperwork is prepared before shipment.
Labels and artwork: who does what
Brand design is normally yours. We supply the mandatory product information, and you place it correctly on the artwork.
You provide the brand identity, the visual design and any marketing claims you want to make. We provide the factual content those claims sit around: the full ingredient declaration with INS numbers, nutritional values, allergen statement, net quantity, manufacturing details, licence numbers and best-before basis.
Marketing claims are where projects get into trouble. A claim that is legal in one market may be prohibited in another, and health claims in particular are tightly controlled almost everywhere. Wellubia's own position is to sell freshness, flavour, ritual, quality, Indian heritage and natural ingredients, and not to make disease-treatment or digestion-cure claims. We would encourage a private label buyer to hold the same line, because an unsupportable claim on your pack is your regulatory exposure, not ours.
Custom-printed packaging carries its own minimum quantities and lead times, which are separate from the product MOQ and are confirmed with the packaging brief. If a first order is small, stock packaging with applied labelling is usually the more sensible route.
Shelf life, storage and how blends travel
Mukhwas is a dry blend, and its enemy is moisture. That single fact drives most of the technical decisions in a private label project.
Coated and candied components pick up humidity, which causes clumping, colour bleed between pieces and a softening of the crisp texture that makes a good blend pleasant to eat. A product that performs well in a dry retail environment can arrive in a humid coastal market visibly changed, which is why destination matters as much as recipe.
The variables you can pull are pack barrier, pack format, the proportion of coated to uncoated components, and whether the product ships in a temperature-controlled container. Single-serve sachets protect best because each portion is separately sealed and the consumer never opens a large pack repeatedly. Jars are the most exposed once opened, which is a consumer-behaviour problem rather than a manufacturing one, and it is usually addressed on-pack with resealing guidance.
Declared shelf life is set against the specific formulation and pack, and confirmed as part of specification lock. Treat any shelf life quoted before a pack format is chosen as provisional.
Where first projects go wrong
Four failure patterns recur often enough to be worth naming.
Deciding pack format last. It constrains shelf life, freight cost, labelling area and unit economics. Deciding it after the recipe means either reopening the recipe or accepting a compromise on all four.
Naming a destination market late. Permitted additives, labelling language, warning statements and certification requirements are all destination-driven. A product developed without a named market has been developed for no market in particular.
Underestimating artwork. Buyers plan production time carefully and then lose six weeks to label design and compliance review. Start artwork in parallel with sampling, not after approval.
Ordering a pilot with no path to scale. A pilot that uses a pack format or ingredient that cannot be sourced at volume proves very little. Ask at the outset whether what you are testing is what you would actually run.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order quantity for private label mukhwas?
There is no fixed MOQ. Quantity is assessed against the product, pack format and destination once the brief is reviewed, which allows both pilot runs and full-scale orders to be considered.
Can you match an existing product we already sell?
Matching or improving an existing product is one of the three common starting points and is usually the fastest route to a sample, provided a physical reference or full specification is supplied.
Are samples free?
Product samples are free and the buyer covers shipping.
Which certifications does the facility hold?
FSSAI, GMP, HACCP, Halal, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, ZED and AYUSH. Certificate scope and documentation are shared against the specific buyer and destination brief.
Do you export?
Yes. Wellubia products are supplied to buyers in more than ten countries. Destination-market documentation is prepared for your market before shipment.
How long does a first production run take?
Lead time is confirmed case by case after the product and packaging specification is agreed, because it depends on formulation, pack format, printing and order size.
Who designs the label artwork?
Brand identity and visual design are normally the buyer's. Wellubia supplies the factual content the design must carry: full ingredient declaration with INS numbers, nutrition values, allergen statement, net quantity, manufacturing details and licence numbers.
Is there a separate minimum for custom-printed packaging?
Yes. Custom-printed packaging carries its own minimum quantities and lead times, separate from the product order. For smaller first orders, stock packaging with applied labelling is usually more practical.
What shelf life can I expect?
Shelf life is set against the specific formulation and pack format and confirmed at specification lock. Any figure quoted before a pack format is chosen should be treated as provisional, because barrier and format materially affect it.
Can we make health claims on our pack?
Health claims are tightly controlled in most markets and are the buyer's regulatory exposure. Wellubia sells on freshness, flavour, ritual, quality, heritage and natural ingredients, and does not make disease-treatment or digestion-cure claims. We recommend private label buyers hold the same line.
